Asian Textiles Online Exhibition

For the gallery’s first online exhibition, 25 Asian textiles have been selected to serve as key representatives of the range and variety of the permanent collection. Over the decades, generous donations to the Williamson Gallery have produced an Asian textile collection that ranges from the 16th to the 20th centuries, from China to Japan to Southeast Asia, and encompassing court wear, domestic wear, religious wear, and home furnishings. In this exhibit you will find Chinese court robes, Japanese kimonos, Buddhist mantles, wedding hangings, and many more exquisite examples that demonstrate the artistry of needle, loom, and dye in Asia.
