In 2018-2019, the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery is offering two internships: one in arts administration, the other in art conservation.

Academic Year Internships 2018-2019

Wilson and Turk Internships

In 2018-2019, the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery is offering a Wilson internship in arts administration for the academic year, made possible by a generous gift from C. Jane Hurley Wilson ’64 and Michael G. Wilson. And, thanks to the generosity of Elizabeth Robbins Turk ’83, the Gallery is also offering an Elizabeth Robbins Turk ’83 internship in art conservation. The internships, which correspond with the academic semesters, are designed to give Scripps students exposure to the fields of arts administration and art conservation. Interns earn an hourly wage, and funds paid to the intern are considered taxable income.

What the Internship Encompasses:

Each week, the student will devote eight hours a week to the internship, schedule to be determined based on the student’s academic commitments, from October 5, 2018 to May 3, 2019 (excluding holidays, fall, winter and spring breaks).

The conservation intern’s duties will include working with artist Elizabeth Turk on her upcoming installation and assisting with the conservation of the Scripps College permanent collection, including, but not limited to bronzes, ceramics and Shakespeare Relief conservation.  Strong organizational and writing skills a must.

The arts administration intern’s duties will center on working with the Williamson Gallery staff on future exhibitions as well as the care and organization of the Scripps College permanent collection. Strong organizational and writing skills a must.
