Mikayla Raymond earned her BA in Art Conservation and French Studies, with a minor in Studio Art, in 2015. Her studies in the French Department, particularly with Professor Eric Haskell, brought her to an interest in historic landscape design. After spending the spring of her junior year as an intern at the Potager du Roi at Versailles, she wrote her thesis on how French national identity affected the preservation and/or reconstruction of three significant garden spaces over three distinct historic preservation campaigns.
After Scripps, Mikayla went on to attend the University of Pennsylvania and graduated with her Masters of Historic Preservation in May 2017. In addition to her studies in historic landscape preservation, she completed a certificate in Landscape Architecture. Her masters thesis is an assessment of how well preservation has addressed sites of women’s history in Philadelphia.
Since graduating, Mikayla worked at the National Register of Historic Places and the National Historic Landmarks program at the National Park Service.
She is now a cultural landscape specialist and architectural historian for AECOM, a large, international architecture and engineering firm.
