Mariél Frechette graduated from Scripps College as a dual major in art history and gender & women’s studies, after which she completed her master’s in art business at Sotheby’s Institute of Art at Claremont Graduate University. She currently serves as the Sotheby’s Institute of Art, Los Angeles alumni board co-chair. Initially trained in galleries on the east and west coast, she spent two years with the online auction house Paddle8 as senior auction coordinator for contemporary, photography, and design auctions. She now works in development at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) where she leads the young patron group, Avant-Garde and the Asian Art Council.
