Caitlin Silberman ’06

caitlin silberman 06Caitlin Silberman earned her BA from Scripps College in 2006. While at Scripps, she received the C. Jane Hurley Wilson ’64 and Michael G. Wilson Internship at the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery. She also interned at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), working on the exhibition, “WACK!: Art and the Feminist Revolution” (2006), and at the Pasadena Museum of History, where she catalogued a collection of antique textiles. She worked for three years with the Special Collections of the Honnold-Mudd and Ella Strong Denison libraries. After spending the 2004-5 academic year studying at Oxford, Caitlin’s academic interest turned to the art of the Victorian era. During her final year at Scripps, Caitlin was selected for a scholarship provided by the Gabrielle Jungels-Winkler Foundation, awarded to an outstanding Scripps student to support study for a Master’s degree at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London. At the Courtauld Institute, Caitlin worked as a research assistant at the Courtauld’s Research Forum, where she presented her findings on the archives of the Victorian collector Thomas Gambier Parry. She completed her degree in 2006 with an emphasis on Victorian art after 1860.

After working in London at the Stanley Kubrick Archive and at the Archives of the Natural History Museum, Caitliln entered a doctoral program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In January 2017, she received a PhD in Art History with a Victorian specialization.
