Anneke Voorhees ’94

Assistant Curator, New Art Trust

Anneke Voorhees ’94

“My education at Scripps has had an important impact on my career. Courses in Art History and Studio Art broadened my understanding of the meaning and purpose of the arts, their historical development, and role in society. The strong emphasis at Scripps in developing critical skills in writing, speaking, and analysis has been invaluable both academically and professionally. Moreover, I feel lucky to have studied with such a smart and articulate group of women.”

Anneke Voorhees ’94 is currently Assistant Curator of the New Art Trust, a foundation established by Pamela and Richard Kramlich; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Bay Area Video Coalition, San Francisco; and the Tate Gallery, London for the preservation and presentation of time-based media works.

She has worked as a Curatorial Assistant at the Iris & B. Gerald Cantor Center for Visual Arts at Stanford University where she organized small exhibitions of modern and contemporary works in the permanent collection. Prior to her work at Stanford, Anneke researched and wrote content for award winning multimedia programs at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. She has also held positions such as Print Department Coordinator at Butterfield & Butterfield Art Auctioneers and Appraisers in San Francisco, Gallery Assistant at Dorothy Weiss Gallery in San Francisco, and Director of Permissions and Image Research for a PBS Video Series.

In 2001 Anneke earned her Masters in Art History at the University of California at Davis.
