MFA Candidate Hunter College, 2009
After graduating from Scripps with a major in Studio Art and a minor in Environmental Science, I spent three months working at the Williamson Gallery as a Wilson Intern. The experience and connections developed as an intern lead directly my first job, as Assistant Director of the Frank Lloyd Gallery in Santa Monica. After two rewarding and informative years in the commercial art world, I was ready to focus on developing my own artistic practice. I moved to New York City in 2005 and entered Hunter College’s M.F.A. program in the Fall of 2006. Back in the role of a student, I continue draw on the diversity and depth of my Scripps education as I approach new academic and artistic challenges.
My Scripps education gave me the opportunity to develop as an artist in a richly interdisciplinary environment, where I had in depth exposure to the sciences, studio art and art history. The foundation I built in my years at Scripps continues to play a defining role in my interests and passions today. My experience as a Wilson Intern was both enlightening and inspiring, exposing me to the nuts and bolts of arts management and providing the perfect bridge between Scripps and the art world beyond.
