LA Live: Contemporary Art in Los Angeles

Los Angeles is a city where the imagination is highly valued. The exhibition “LA Live” presents current works by artists active in Los Angeles, who explore both real and imagined worlds in a wide range of media. The exhibition is selected by the Scripps studio art faculty, including Adam Davis, Ken Gonzales-Day, Nancy Macko, Susan Rankaitis, T. Kim Trang-Tran, who all exhibit their art widely. Their goal is to present students and the public with examples of compelling recent art. This exhibition also provides something that is too little seen, the artists’ view of the current artistic scene. Artists selected include: Rheim Alkadhi, Veronica Bailey, Kim Beck, Natalie Bookchin, Nana Gregory, Julie Meltzer and David Thorne, Hillary Mushkin, Alison Saar, and Mario Ybarra. For information please contact the Gallery’s administrative office at (909) 607-4690. An opening reception will be held on November 5, from 7-9 p.m.

On November 1, 2007, Hunter Drohojowska-Philp, art critic and author, will give a lecture entitled, “Nothing to Lose: The Los Angeles Art Scene of the 1960s.” Hampton Room, noon. For reservations, please call (909) 607-8507.
